Employment at Residence XII

Residence XII employs approximately forty individuals in a variety of positions from clinical staff such as counselors, to associates involved in residence management, cooking and massage. Along with our management group, administrative support and research staff, the entire team at Residence XII is committed to developing and providing the highest quality chemical dependency treatment programs and comprehensive services to meet the unique needs of women and their families.

We encourage Chemical Dependency Professionals (CDPs) to submit their resumes to us at any time. Counselors must be certified and our current staff has a variety of degrees ranging from Masters Degrees to no college degrees but extensive experience. We seek individuals committed to working in a professional, multidisciplinary and creative environment. Knowledge or experience with the treatment needs of women is important and an understanding of co-occurring mental health issues is a plus.

Outpatient Coordinator

QUALIFICATIONS

1. No history of alcohol or other drug misuse for periods of five years prior to the time of employment at Residence XII.

2. Bachelor’s degree with a major in a social science preferred. or, equivalent work experience in the field of chemical dependency.

3. Meet and maintain CDP requirements and qualifications as defined in the

WAC 246-811-030.

4. One-year supervisory experience.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES

1. Must demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills.

2. Must demonstrate excellent human relations skills.

3. Must demonstrate excellent organizational and time management skills.

4. Must demonstrate knowledge of local, state and national regulations and standards as they are apply to Residence XII.

5. Must demonstrate openness to input from subordinate staff and supervisors.

6. Must demonstrate up to date knowledge of community resources supportive of recovering women.

7. Must demonstrate knowledge of the disease concept, excellent clinical skills, especially as they relate to the treatment of chemically dependent women and their families.

8. Must demonstrate an understanding of the identification and treatment of dual disorders.

9. Knowledge of Alcoholics Anonymous, Al-Anon, Ala-Teen, Nar-Anon, the principles, steps and traditions.

10. Knowledge and ability to conduct group and individual counseling sessions, and to present lectures.

RESPONSIBILITIES: SUPERVISORY

1. Attend Management Team meetings and work collaboratively with other Mangers to assure the mission and values of Residence XII.

2. Provide clinical supervision of assigned staff, which may include counselors, interns, contractors, and volunteers assigned to the Outpatient program. Counselors must receive an hour of clinical supervision each week or its equivalent for FTE of less than 1.0.

3. Conduct annual employee development reviews for all Outpatient clinical staff including objectives for continuing clinical skill development.

4. Assure that all Outpatient programs are adequately staffed and that all scheduled program are conducted in a timely manner.

5. Assure that Outpatient counselors and programs maintain the highest quality of clinical and ethical practice and that they meet local, state and national rules and standards as they apply to Residence XII

6. Work with the Treatment Director in developing clinical program options and acceptance by the community; assist in the design of strategies to improve outpatient utilization and expansion.

RESPONSIBILITIES: CLINICAL

1. Carry pager in rotation with other staff

2. Prepare and maintain patient files and patient confidentially. To include, intake histories, assessments, treatment plans and daily charting, in compliance with the WAC requirements•

3. Participate and support fully the on-going team concept of the treatment design.

4. Facilitate group therapy sessions.

5. One to one counseling sessions as necessary.

6. Assist assigned patients in developing a treatment plan, goals and a continuing recovery program.

7. Responsible for composition and delivery of assigned lecture and education sessions.

8. Evaluate prospective patients. Maintain as appropriate, rapport with patient’s employer physician, attorney, court systems and other referral sources.

9. Attend all staff meetings.

10. Assure that assessment, treatment and reporting requirements for court ordered patients are met according to the provision of R.C.W. 10.05.020 – 10.05.170.

11. Prepare timely utilization review reports.

12. Supervise assigned interns.

13. Perform other tasks as assigned, which fall within the scope of this position.

Float Counselor

The float counselor must have considerable knowledge of the disease concept; co-dependency as a part of the addiction process; drug dependences and the effects on the family dynamics. Must have inpatient experience.

1. Knowledge of the principles, steps and traditions of self-help and anonymous groups.

2. Knowledge and ability to facilitate a variety of accepted therapeutic modalities.

3. A Chemical Dependency Counselor shall have no history of alcohol or other drug misuse for a period of three years prior to the time of employment as a qualified counselor and no misuse of alcohol or other drugs while employed as a qualified counselor.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

1. A Chemical Dependency Professional shall have adequate education, experience and knowledge regarding the nature and treatment of chemical dependency addiction, be knowledgeable about community resources providing services chemically dependent women may need, know and understand the principles and techniques of chemical dependency counseling and be skilled in the application of these principles and techniques.

2. Meet and maintain CDP requirements and qualifications as defined in the WAC 246-811-030 and have experience working in inpatient treatment.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

1. Considerable knowledge of the disease concept; co-dependency as a part of the addiction process; drug dependences and the effects on the family dynamics.

2. Knowledge of the principles, steps and traditions of self-help and anonymous groups.

3. Knowledge and ability to facilitate a variety of accepted therapeutic modalities.

4. Ability to interface with the community.

5. Knowledge of referral sources.

6. Superior oral and written communication skills.

7. Knowledge of ASAM & DSM IV-R criteria.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Fill in for absent counselors and assume all duties for that position.

2. Teach classes as assigned.

3. Perform case management services.

4. Maintain an up to date catalogue of community resources.

5. Work with patients and counseling staff to formulate an aftercare plan, identify appropriate community resources and assist patients in linking into those resources.

6. Assist Intake Manager with intakes.

7. As time permits assisting counselors with miscellaneous case management tasks.

Inpatient Counselor

Chemical Dependency Professional shall have no history of alcohol or other drug misuse for a period of three years prior to the time of employment as a Chemical Dependency Professional and no misuse of alcohol or other drugs while employed as a counselor.

QUALIFICATIONS

1. A Chemical Dependency Professional shall have adequate education, experience and knowledge regarding the nature and treatment of chemical dependency addiction, be knowledgeable about community resources providing services chemically dependent women may need, know and understand the principles and techniques of chemical dependency counseling and be skilled in the application of these principles and techniques.

2. Meet and maintain CDP requirements and qualifications as defined in the

WAC 246-811-030.

3. Current First Aid & CPR card

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

1. A knowledge and experiential base regarding the diagnosis and treatment of chemical dependency as a progressive disease.

2. Specialized knowledge and skills regarding women’s issues and the treatment of chemically dependent women and their families.

3. Knowledge of the principles, steps and traditions of self-help and anonymous groups.

4. Knowledge and ability to facilitate a variety of accepted therapeutic modalities.

5. Knowledge of community resources and the ability to interface with other professionals in the community who provide referrals and resources.

6. Superior oral and written communication skills.

7. Knowledge of ASAM & DSM IV-R criteria.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Support a therapeutic milieu in the residence by conducting program activities and providing patient support:

a. Participate in selected patient meals.

b. Participate in structured outdoor activity such as walks.

c. Assure patients follow program schedule.

2. Deliver assigned lectures and educational programs to assure a seven day a week treatment program.

3. Conduct a non-smoking lecture and support program for patient’s to encourage a nicotine free lifestyle.

4. Facilitates assigned groups.

a. First Step preparation.

b. Wrap up.

5. Conduct one to one counseling sessions as necessary.

6. Attend assigned staff meetings.

7. Assist in maintaining patient charts and logs and maintaining patient confidentiality in compliance with all licensing bodies & third party reimbursement requirements.

8. Participate in and fully support the on-going team concept of the program design.

9. Assure patients receive comprehensive orientation to Residence XII program rules, guidelines, etc.

10. Offer support and debrief patients’ post family program and visiting.

11. Review patient medication regimen to assure accuracy and medication compliance with additional responsibility to trouble shoot questions or problems regarding patient medication.

12. Perform patient ASI interviews as assigned.

13. Other duties as assigned appropriate to this position.

14. As time permits and as assigned:

a. Assist case managers with case management and treatment activities.

b. Transport patients to and from community resources.

c. Assist residence managers with inpatient admissions.

d. Respond to telephone inquiries regarding Residence XII treatment programs.
