FULL-TIME FLOAT COUNSELORThe float counselor must have considerable knowledge of the disease concept; co-dependency as a part of the addiction process; drug dependences and the effects on the family dynamics. Must have inpatient experience. 1. Knowledge of the principles, steps and traditions of self-help and anonymous groups. 2. Knowledge and ability to facilitate a variety of accepted therapeutic modalities. 3. A Chemical Dependency Counselor shall have no history of alcohol or other drug misuse for a period of three years prior to the time of employment as a qualified counselor and no misuse of alcohol or other drugs while employed as a qualified counselor. QUALIFICATIONS 1. A Chemical Dependency Professional shall have adequate education, experience and knowledge regarding the nature and treatment of chemical dependency addiction, be knowledgeable about community resources providing services chemically dependent women may need, know and understand the principles and techniques of chemical dependency counseling and be skilled in the application of these principles and techniques. 2. Meet and maintain CDP requirements and qualifications as defined in the WAC 246-811-030 and have experience working in inpatient treatment. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES 1. Considerable knowledge of the disease concept; co-dependency as a part of the addiction process; drug dependences and the effects on the family dynamics. 2. Knowledge of the principles, steps and traditions of self-help and anonymous groups. 3. Knowledge and ability to facilitate a variety of accepted therapeutic modalities. 4. Ability to interface with the community. 5. Knowledge of referral sources. 6. Superior oral and written communication skills. 7. Knowledge of ASAM & DSM IV-R criteria. RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Fill in for absent counselors and assume all duties for that position. 2. Teach classes as assigned. 3. Perform case management services. 4. Maintain an up to date catalogue of community resources. 5. Work with patients and counseling staff to formulate an aftercare plan, identify appropriate community resources and assist patients in linking into those resources. 6. Assist Intake Manager with intakes. 7. As time permits assisting counselors with miscellaneous case management tasks.
