Development Director

Residence XII is recruiting a Development Director with a passion for recovery to contribute to our dynamic, skillful Leadership team. A successful candidate will be committed to working in a professional, multidisciplinary and creative environment. As a member of the Development Team, the Development Director is responsible for all aspects of agency fundraising. This includes ability to conceptualize, plan, implement, and manage fundraising strategies, and events development and management. Qualifications

4-5 years’ experience in fundraising, grant writing, event management, and public speaking Bachelor’s degree or equivalent. Experience with data entry and management; particularly using donor software. Experienced and adept in a wide range of resource development strategies; nonprofit experience is preferred. Proven record of acquiring and maintaining grants, foundation funding and maintaining successful relationships with their officers. Strong background in donor acquisition and cultivation of major gifts. Experience in planning and initiating fundraising events. Energetic personality, with the ability to inspire trust and confidence in Residence XII and its mission. Outstanding interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, with ability to work effectively across diverse constituencies. Ability to motivate volunteers. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) Working knowledge of donor software (Exceed! a plus) Ability to work independently and with a team. Willingness to work occasional weekend days and/or evenings.

Responsibilities

In consultation with the CEO, establish goals, set priorities, develop strategies for annual appeals (including annual fund raising luncheon), future capital campaign and endowment funding. Work in partnership with the CEO and Board Fundraising Committee to develop a comprehensive fundraising development plan and maintain appropriate policies and procedures for fundraising development activities. Work with the Board Events Planning Committee to plan and direct the annual event, including securing sponsorship and partnership opportunities.  Secure and supervise volunteers. Work in collaboration with the business office to coordinate proper and timely handling of donations and event revenue. Conduct research and identify individuals, foundations, corporations and professional firms for donor prospects. Design cultivation and solicitation plans upon this research. Plan and implement individualized personal cultivation and solicitation efforts for major gift prospects.  Enlist the support of the CEO, Board of Directors and volunteers to assist with solicitation, carefully selecting and training them when required. Work in collaboration with the Director of Marketing and Communications and the Public Relations Manager to develop and implement speaking opportunities, branding, develop website content and social media outreach. Provide supervision and evaluation of the Public Relations Manager, in collaboration with the Director of Marketing and Communications. Work with the CEO to continually research public and private grant sources. Monitor grant application deadlines and apply for grants that meet the goals of Residence XII strategic plans. Grant stewardship to include reporting to donor on use of funds, creating opportunities for the donor to visit facility, arranging for gift to be acknowledged in publications or other media as appropriate. Plan and coordinate all other fundraising development activities, including special events and mail campaigns. Manage donor recognition, including thank you letters, pledges, phone calls and public acknowledgements. Manage donor database. Work in partnership with CEO and Director of Administration in developing and maintaining development budget; monitor expenses to stay within development budget. Represent Residence XII in the community and with other organizations, as requested. Other duties as assigned by the CEO. The Director of Development will support the Director of Marketing and Communications in her role as a staff liaison to the Alumnae Association, providing assistance as needed to forward the Association's mission and goals. Duties shall include the following: occasional attendance at Alumnae Planning Committee meetings, assisting with planning and implementation of Alumnae events, and actively engaging Alumnae members in their support of success in sobriety. Salary $62K, plus a great benefits package that includes medical, dental, life insurance/disability, 403b, FSA, generous vacation time and retirement.
